This file contains  comments to help each team to understand what's happened during this decision 2. You have to ask you questions about :

·                 the price policy of your competitors

·                     the communication policy of your competitors : did their budgets increase ? or decresease ? how much ?

·                     the human resources policy of your competitors : did they increase the staff ? what about the wages ?

·                     the market : did it increase ? in total and by segment (direct channel, OTA) ? in number of rooms sold AND in value

·                     keep an eye on the satisfaction of your customers. The % is the reflect of the comments on websites as Tripadvisors for example.

In order to understand what's hapenned, you must build some dashboards. Please look carefully to the videos I posted.

I sent to each manager a file with the structure of dashboards. You must be able to build each indicators.

I'm waiting for decision 3 for the 05/03. For this third decision you can invest (jacuzzi, furniture or sauna). But, before, you have to check your treasury, to be sure that you have the cash !

Your investment is avalaible for the period, you needn't to wait a period. You will get royalties, so you needn't hire employees for this investment or provid any training budget.

importance of team work

Dear students,

I would like to reinforce the importance of working as a team in this module. It seems that, in some teams, some of you are not involved in the work.

So, I asked each team leader to specify in the email with the task (challenge or decision) those are really involved. 

I remind you that you will have an individual work in few days. If you have ever watched figures, decision sheet and/or results sheet, it will be impossible for you to understand the work to do.

new deadline for decision 2

Dear student,

you can send me the decision 2 for the 28/02 (instead of 24/02) if you need a delay to build the dashboards and take the decision.

to make the dashboards, you can use the file "dashboards example", but you need to update with your own figures. For that :

• select column E of the file "team$$ results sheet" (I send it to you by email) from line 5 to line 432
• open the file "dashboards example"
• put your mouse on cell E5 and copy (only values, clic right with your mouse) on the column E of the file "dashboards example" 
• delete the figures on column F, G, H, etc...
• save this file as (name-dashboards.xls"

I will explain you later how to update it with figures of year 1, 2, 3, etc.

Then, to build your own dashboards, you used new sheet (1 for prices, 1 for communication, 1 for HR, etc.)


Concerning the leaflet (fort the 29/02):  You rent a stand on the Tourism Exhibition Show in Athena, in order to meet new BtoB customers (Tour Operators and OTA). To communicate with them, you have to create (ex on canva.com ) trade show brochures, for handing out.

I'm waiting for 1 figure from Team 3 until 12.00am, then you will have the results for this first year. Don't worry if you lost money, it's quite "normal" for the first year, with an average occupancy rate of 30%

I will send to the manager a file with the results (and a link to download the next results for next periods) and another link for some comments (on finance and on challenges).

I'm waiting for the marketing dashboard for 24/02, but maybe you can provide some dashboards on finance and human resources.

some informations, to keep your projects on track :

• occupancy rate for the first year : between 20% and 30%
• part of the turn over in the marketing : between 5% and 10% --> it means that you have to forecast the turn over, maybe the net result
• check on booking.com the average price for a ** hotel in Gythio (less than 150 € !)
• training budget : check on Internet the acceptable values (between 0.5% and 5% of the total payroll)
• no investment for the moment (from year 3, not before) ; idem for dividends
• you're supoosed to fill in the forecasts

Teams 1, 2 and 4, you can change your decision sheet if you want to adjust.

Teams 3 & 5, I'm waiting for your work at 5.00 pm. If I haven't reveived it, you have a 0.

Vous pouvez les charger.
Plusieurs erreurs récurrentes sur la masse salariales, j'ai donné le détail dans l'évaluation.
Attention au calcul des commissions des OTA.

L'objectif de cette partie était de calculer le résultat pour voir si le modèle économique était équilibré (ce que vous allez devoir faire pendant le jeu d'entreprise dès la semaine prochaine). Ce détail semble avoir échappé à toutes les équipes. Ne perdez pas de vue et les objectifs, cela vous aidera à vous y retrouver dans les calculs.
